What Raising Your Frequency Actually Means | The Frequency Edit
Feb 24, 2026Somewhere along the way, “raise your frequency” became code for:
Just be happier.
Think positive.
Don’t spiral.
Stay high vibe.
And if you couldn’t?
You must be blocked.
Low vibe.
Out of alignment.
This never sat well with me because it is essentially saying ignore how you are actually feeling and just pretend your way to happiness. Like no wonder manifestation doesn't work for so many people! This tactic is totally bypassing key emotions and limiting beliefs that need to first be addressed so you can hold higher energetic capacities. Because at the end of the day, frequency isn’t about forcing yourself into a better mood.
It’s about regulation.
Identity.
Embodiment.
Let’s actually talk about what this means....
What Frequency Really Is:
At a biological level, your body runs on electrical signals.
Your brain communicates through electrical impulses.
Your heart sends measurable electromagnetic waves.
Your nervous system constantly scans for safety or threat.
Your emotional state isn’t random.
It’s the result of how regulated your system feels.
When people talk about “frequency,” what they’re often describing is the state your body and mind are operating from.
Are you in contraction?
Or expansion?
Defense?
Or safety?
That state determines your perception.
Your decisions.
Your reactions.
Your capacity.
Frequency is not a personality trait.
It’s a physiological state.
And states can shift.
What Raising Your Frequency Is NOT:
- It is not pretending you’re abundant while your body feels unsafe.
- It is not bypassing sadness, anger, or grief.
- It is not repeating affirmations while internally spiraling.
- It is not suppressing “negative” emotions to appear "evolved".
- True expansion does not require emotional suppression.
In fact, bypassing lowers capacity.
And capacity is everything.
What Raising Your Frequency Actually Is:
Raising your frequency means increasing your nervous system’s sense of safety.
- It means expanding your emotional capacity so you can hold more — more success, more visibility, more love, more responsibility — without collapsing.
- It means regulating before reacting.
- It means shifting identity, not just thoughts.
- It means becoming stable enough to expand.
This is why you can feel amazing, expansive, aligned… and then suddenly feel blocked the moment something bigger starts to arrive.
Because expansion triggers the nervous system.
Your body doesn’t measure “good” or “bad.”
It measures familiar or unfamiliar.
If success feels unfamiliar, it can feel unsafe.
If being seen feels unfamiliar, it can feel unsafe.
So the system contracts.
That contraction gets labeled as “low vibe.”
But it’s not low vibe.
It’s protection.
And protection isn’t failure.
It’s information.
Why You Feel “Blocked” Before an Up-level:
Most people think blocks mean they’re doing something wrong.
In reality, blocks often show up because you’re doing something right.
You’re stretching capacity.
Old beliefs resurface.
Imposter thoughts return.
You question everything.
Not because you’re regressing.
But because your system is recalibrating.
Expansion requires safety.
And safety can be built.
How To Actually Raise Your Frequency:
Not through a 10-step spiritual routine.
Start here:
1. Regulate Before You Manifest
If your chest feels tight, your thoughts are racing, or you’re bracing for something to go wrong — that’s not a mindset issue. That’s a nervous system state.
Before journaling.
Before affirmations.
Before visualizing your dream life.
Pause.
Take 3–5 minutes of slow breathing:
Inhale for 4.
Exhale for 6 or 8.
Longer exhales signal safety to the body.
Safety increases capacity.
Manifestation works better from regulation than from urgency.
2. Shift the Body, Not Just the Thoughts
Frequency is physiological.
Go outside.
Let sunlight hit your eyes.
Walk without your phone (even better don't look at your phone for at least 30 minutes upon waking up).
Move your body until you feel warmth.
Movement metabolizes stress hormones.
Sunlight regulates circadian rhythm.
Both stabilize your emotional baseline.
You don’t need a spiritual marathon.
You need a state shift.
3. Build Capacity in Small Doses
Instead of trying to “be” your highest self all day, practice holding expansion in increments.
Have a bigger conversation.
Raise your price slightly.
Speak your truth once.
Post even if you feel exposed.
Then regulate after.
Hydrate.
Slow down.
Integrate.
This teaches your nervous system:
“I can expand and remain safe.”
That’s how identity shifts stick.
4. Embodiment > Visualization
Visualization is powerful.
But embodiment is what rewires.
Ask yourself:
How would the version of me who can hold this opportunity sit?
Speak?
Respond to stress?
Handle uncertainty?
Then practice that response in small moments.
Not perfectly.
Just intentionally.
That’s frequency work.
Because frequency isn’t about becoming someone else.
It’s about increasing your capacity to hold more — without collapsing.
And when capacity expands, your life does too.
